My name is Martin Stephenson (stevo nickname from school) from Yorkshire. I came here originally to work with a Property Agent and be involved in Property Sales and Refurbishments. For reasons including the worldwide recession this has not been possible.

So onto plan two ....which was to re-aquaint myself with my passion and love of Watercolour Painting (or Aquarelle as they call it round here) ! To this end I have been painting continually since last March and seem to be finding success here in Bulgaria strangely.I had painted and drawn all my life and worked as a freelance graphic artist for a magazine in Harrogate Yorkshire, and had work published in Select and Dalesman Magazines. I had also sold my work privately and through Galleries in Yorkshire and Cheshire to Private Collectors.

Since coming to Bulgaria, I have found inspriration, and a very appreciative public, mainly due to the fact that Artists were held in high regard here,as historically  they were persecuted and arrested in the past (not much has changed really) ! After initially being accepted as the first English artist to be accepted into notable Galleries in Nessebar and Sozopol, I have since secured other outlets in the ski resort Borovets and the beautiful old city of Plovdiv.

After a very succesful Summer Season at the coast, I turned my attention to my very first ever Exhibition with fellow villager, and Photographer Geoff Taylor together we had a month long 'one man' Exhibition called 'Two Englishmen Abroad' which drew attention from the Countries media and seemed to capture the imagination of the Town, it's Mayor and it's inhabitants.

During the exhibition I demonstrated and taught in front of up to 60 students from the local schools and now have further plans to teach adults and children, having informally taught a few of the local ex-pats. These experiences and my studies over the years have now lead to the production of an e-book on the subject, and to Tutorials on youtube. i also spent the Summer and Winter producing and maintaining my own website. My services as a resident tutor have been secured by The Aztec Yoga Centre at the Black Sea coastal town of Sozopol in The Summer and I plan to base myself in the Town for a few days a week, during the Summer Season.
